BENCHMARKING OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY STUDY PROGRAM, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE, UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA TO UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA
The Agricultural Product Technology Study Program, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya, conducted a benchmarking to Universiti Putra Malaysia from January 11 to 13, 2024. The benchmarking was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sriwijaya, the Coordinator of the Study Program, Lecturers, and Laboratory Staff of the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program. The objectives of benchmarking were to learn about the learning system, academic activities, academic management, laboratory management, and pilot plant design at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The Agricultural Product Technology Study Program is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sriwijaya which has achieved ASIIN international accreditation. Therefore, this benchmarking activity is very useful to determine the performance of other universities, especially universities with international scale such as Universiti Putra Malaysia, in improving the quality of learning quality and academic services. This benchmarking is also needed as an effort to improve the cooperation that has been established between Universitas Sriwijaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia, especially in postgraduate program for lecturers, research, training, and student exchanges programs, so as to increase the number of foreign students who take programs at the Faculty of Agriculture UNSRI, especially in the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program.
In this benchmarking activity, lecturers and laboratory staff of the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The delegation from the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program Universitas Sriwijaya was received directly by the Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Research and Innovation, and the Vice Dean of Development and Networks, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The delegation from the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program also visited Industrial Network Laboratories such as the Supercritical Fluid Centre which conducts research in the field of extracting using green technology Supercritical Carbon Dioxide (SC-CO2) as a solvent, and the Learning Centre for Processing Juice and Pure.
In addition, the delegation from the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program visited the Halal Products Research Institute, and Laboratory of Halal Services, Universiti Putra Malaysia. On this opportunity, the delegation from the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program received explanations directly from the Director and Deputy Director of Halal Products Research Institute Universiti Putra Malaysia. An explanation of the laboratory was also directly delivered by the Head of the Laboratory, and Laboratory Staff.
Through this benchmarking activity, the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program is expected to identify, adopt and apply significantly better practices as benchmarks or standards to improve and enhance existing performance. Through this activity, it is also expected to transform the work culture, improve performance, and increase the ability of human resources so as to improve the quality of education and the quality of learning in the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program, in supporting the internationalization program at Sriwijaya University.
BENCHMARKING PRODI TEKNOLOGI HASIL PERTANIAN FAKULTAS PERTANIAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA KE UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA
Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian, Jurusan Teknologi Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya melakukan kegiatan benchmarking ke Universiti Putra Malaysia pada tanggal 11 sampai 13 Januari 2024. Kegiatan benchmarking tersebut diikuti oleh Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik Fakultas Pertanian UNSRI, Koordinator Program Studi, Dosen, dan Laboran Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari mengenai sistem pembelajaran, kegiatan akademik, manajemen akademik, manajemen laboratorium, serta perancangan pilot plant yang ada di Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian merupakan salah satu program studi di Fakultas Pertanian UNSRI yang telah mencapai akreditasi internasional ASIIN. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan benchmarking ini sangat diperlukan untuk mengetahui kinerja perguruan tinggi lainnya, terutama perguruan tinggi dengan skala internasional seperti Universiti Putra Malaysia, dalam meningkatkan kualitas mutu pembelajaran dan pelayanan akademik. Benchmarking ini juga sangat diperlukan sebagai upaya meningkatkan kerjasama yang telah terjalin antara Universitas Sriwijaya dan Universiti Putra Malaysia, terutama dalam program studi lanjut bagi dosen, program riset, training, serta pertukaran mahasiswa sehingga dapat meningkatkan jumlah mahasiswa asing yang mengambil program di Fakultas Pertanian UNSRI, khususnya di Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian.
Pada kegiatan benchmarking ini, dosen dan laboran Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian berkesempatan mengunjungi Faculty of Food Science and Technology, University Putra Malaysia. Rombongan dari Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian FP UNSRI diterima langsung oleh Timbalan (Wakil) Dekan Siswajah, Penyelidikan dan Inovasi, serta Timbalan Dekan Pembangunan dan Jaringan, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, University Putra Malaysia. Rombongan dari Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian FP UNSRI juga melakukan kunjungan ke Laboratorium Jaringan Industri seperti Supercritical Fluid Center yang melakukan penelitian dalam bidang pengekstrakan menggunakan teknologi hijau Superkritikal Karbon Dioksida (SC-CO2) sebagai pelarut, serta Pusat Pembelajaran Loji Perintis Memproses Jus dan Puri.
Selain itu, Rombongan dari Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian FP UNSRI berkunjung ke Institut Penyelidikan Produk Halal (IPPH) dan Laboratory of Halal Services, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Dalam kesempatan ini, rombongan dari Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian FP UNSRI mendapatkan penjelasan langsung tentang IPPH Universiti Putra Malaysia dari Direktur dan Wakil Direktur IPPH Universiti Putra Malaysia. Penjelasan mengenai laboratorium juga langsung disampaikan oleh Kepala Laboratorium, serta beberapa Staf Laboran yang hadir pada saat kunjungan.
Melalui kegiatan benchmarking ini diharapkan Proram Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian dapat mengidentifikasi, mengadopsi dan mengaplikasikan praktik-praktik yang lebih baik secara signifikan sebagai patokan atau standar untuk memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kinerja yang telah ada. Melalui kegiatan ini juga diharapkan terjadinya transformasi budaya kerja, perbaikan kinerja, serta peningkatan kemampuan sumber daya manusia sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dan mutu pembelajaran di Program Studi Teknologi Hasil Pertanian, dalam mendukung program internasionalisasi di Universitas Sriwijaya.
