Guest Lecture “Water Quality Management: Application of Probiotic in Biofloc System”
As part of ongoing efforts to improve student learning quality and support the National Independent Learning Campus Program, the Aquaculture Study Program at Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sriwijaya is hosting a public lecture. The event presented Acting Sub Lt. Ratchamongkol Kajornwuttisak, M.Sc from the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, as the guest lecturer.
Held online and offline on Tuesday, 24 October 2023, from 10.00-12.00 a.m., the lecture took place in the multipurpose room of the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya. Mirna Fitrani, S.Pi., M.Sc., Ph.D, one of the Aquaculture Study Program lecturers and Kasetsart University alumnus, acted as moderator. The lecture focused on the Biofloc and Microbiome System in aquaculture, a technology developed to create higher-quality fish cultivation by saving water, enriching maintenance media, and producing higher-quality fishery products. This topic is the development of the field of Water Quality Management, which is one of the mandatory courses in the Aquaculture Study Program.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Muslim, M.Agr, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Dr. Ferdinand Hukama Taqwa, S.Pi., M.Si, Head of the Fisheries Department, expressed their appreciation for the participation and enthusiasm of students and attendees. Thanks were also expressed to the resource persons who shared their knowledge and experience in the scientific discussion forum.
According to Dade Jubaedah S.Pi., M.Si, as the host of the event, the Aquaculture Study Program regularly invites resource persons from domestic and foreign institutions to share their expertise. The hope is that this activity can inspire students and participants to deepen their understanding of fisheries cultivation and improve the quality of education.
